In the southern hemisphere, at the very tip of Africa, lie the sun-drenched fields and rolling valleys of South African wine country -
Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl - also the very birthplace of this artwork. Shaped by ancient soils, mountain silhouettes, ocean winds, and patient hands, it is from this landscape that the artwork draws its spirit.
The pigments are born from locally sourced Red and Rosé wines, carefully boiled and reduced, transforming a fleeting celebration into permanence. Once diluted with water on the canvas, the wine releases its hidden palette: soft blush tones, warm amber hues, and deep garnet shades that evoke the mountains and valleys at sunset. Every pour of wine upon the canvas is guided by gentle, devoted hand movements with minimal brushwork, allowing the pigments to flow organically across the surface of canvas, shaped by gravity, evaporation, and instinct forming the local red hued mountains during sunset. Delicate sheets of gold leaf shimmer across the surface like the late afternoon South African sun over ripened valleys, reflecting abundance, heritage, and the quiet luxury of timeless memories.
